Author Charles Dickens’ classic novel A Christmas Carol is being made available on a free podcast.
Penguin Books is offering the unabridged audiobook of the novel, read by actor Geoffrey Palmer.
The entire text has been divided into five instalments for MP3 players in one of the first free complete podcasts of a world famous novel.
First published in 1843, the novel features the miser Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited by a series of ghosts.
The novel features some of Dickens’ most famous characters, including kindly clerk Bob Cratchit and good-hearted child Tiny Tim.
Palmer is best known for his roles in sitcoms including Time Goes By and Butterflies.
Penguin launched its fortnightly podcast service in October, offering subscribers interviews and extracts from modern writers including Nick Hornby and Zadie Smith
